No matter if you have a traditional business model or a home based Network Marketing business we all need good social skills and strategy at parties and events. This is a short punch list of ways to maximize your time and effectiveness while attending events. Learn just a few new networking skills and your business will take on a whole new image.
Did you plan what you would wear as appropriate for the event? Does it project the correct persona?
Did you arrive early to network with others as they arrived?
When attending with a friend or partner split up and work the room separately. Sit at different tables unless it is a dining environment.
How would you rate your handshake? Would your hand shake make a great first impression?
Shake as many hands as you can and get their names. Work at connecting on a personal basis.
Project a happy, but professional, enthusiastic and positive aura. People want to be with happy people.
Work on remembering names. Begin with deciding you can do it. There are many techniques for this.
If you are not comfortable it will show. Learn to be relaxed. Some people need coaching with this.
Be open about your intentions. Let people know you are there to network, but don’t shove your business at them. Find out what they do and look for ways to serve their needs first.
Let people talk about themselves. They are often their favorite topic. Let them sell themselves on YOU!
Ask for a business card at the correct time. The best time is after you know what they are all about, but before they ask for your business card. Try not to offer your card if they don’t ask for it.
If you want to contact them after the event, but they have not offered you a business card, then simply ask permission to contact them. ‘I think we may have some common business interests. Can we talk after this event? How do I contact you?”
Follow up with key people afterwards. I use Send Out Cards for personal and professional follow up. It’s easy, practical and inexpensive.
This is obviously a condensed list. You may already have known all of this. Are you already doing all of these activities? Which ones can you practice and get better at executing during events?
If you take the time to continuously practice these easy tips, your business will become easier and you will have more fun while you work. Referrals will begin to flow. You will spend less time prospecting for business and make more money in less time.

Marketing is evolving so rapidly in so many directions that if you stop paying attention for even a moment, you find yourself trying to catch up. - Be willing and able to spread your video to multiple locations and venues. Try Tube Mogul for wider distribution. It’s all about SEO, so spread it around. Mobile video is an up and coming phenomenon.
- Forms alliances for commenting and posting. Groups and friends can help you distribute your feeds.

Believe me…. A VERY Brief Belief Blog

Belief can kill….or resurrect.
Belief can raise entire societies as well as raze great towers.
Beliefs contain the seeds of success and the root of failure.
Potential for rebirth within your beliefs is also known as Hope.
You are able to rebuild and reposition yourself with enough Hope infused with correct belief.
Beliefs can sustain you during troubling times and stir your soul or the spirit of another.
The ability to contribute belief to another person is a rare and honorable gift.
Applied incorrectly, those same beliefs can also demoralize and destroy.
Unexamined belief is the Enemy’s tool.
A fool recklessly believes and an even bigger fool REFUSES to believe.
What does not kill you will also make you stronger. Do you believe that?
It is a commonly espoused saying, but I like to phrase it differently:

What you BELIEVE can kill you or make your stronger. You decide.
These are my beliefs. I have examined them. I hold them dear.

Would YOU shoot THIS dog?
Most of you already know that I was raised on a farm. My redneck roots are fairly obvious at times – mostly in the attitudes I carry with me in everyday life and especially in business. Now, just to be sure we are clear on this point: being of Redneck heritage is neither good, nor bad. So if we can agree to this, read on.
I am very fond of some of the sayings from the farming community where I was raised. The way people tend to speak in those parts is very direct and concise if you are able to interpret what is being communicated. Most of the time these folksy “zingers” have so many meanings that they become easy to dismiss as lacking substance. But rest assured, wisdom can escape you if you if you are willing to dismiss it simply because of ones prejudice.
One saying that comes to mind often in my life is this: “That dog won’t hunt”. Most people that grew up among the cornstalks and hay bales with me know what that means, but for my city friends, allow me to translate. Simply stated, pay attention to what DOES NOT WORK.
A dog that won’t hunt has limited usefulness. Sure, they will follow you around. They may bark when strangers appear, but if you want a hunting dog, that dog won’t cut it. It’s not a BAD dog, it’s just not a USEFUL dog. If you want a working dog; that one won’t work for you. It’s OK to admit it.
So, if there is something in your life that does not work for you, simply admit it. Free yourself from the burden of trying to make a situation better or easier by pretending otherwise. Understand that every dog has limitations and so do some aspects of our lives. Work around those limitations, retrain yourself or REDIRECT yourself.
One of my friends, George White from South Carolina once told me: “If a dog won’t hunt, take it out behind the barn and shoot it”. That seems a bit harsh to me, but I got his point. Getting that dog (i.e. Belief, Attitude, Relationships, Behavior, and Hobbies) out of your life may be the best solution. Give it away, set it free, and let it be gone.
I feel like I have unleashed a long enough metaphor upon you. So just embrace this thought: I vow today to examine my beliefs, attitudes, relationships, behaviors, hobbies. I will be holding them to the wisdom of the ages and, if they won’t “hunt” I will be finding them a new home or following George White’s advice.

In the world of Internet jargon there is a term used to describe the words that help you discover the results you are looking for; Keywords. For instance, if you are looking for ways to rid your organic garden of Hornworms, you would type exactly that phrase in your browser and, your search engine will locate within the topics other web pages scattered across the planet, those exact phrases, index the results in order of relevance and you will get the results for which you asked. If what you type a vague or incorrect phrase, you get results, but the results will be less specific, less relevant and probably more difficult to understand.
In life there is also a set of keywords. These keywords bring you results as well. If, in your mind (your bio-computer), you use the words angry, fail, broke, or dumb, you will receive results as well. Not good results, but still you will receive the information, the conclusion that verifies that search. You will be presented with the results which you sought with your key words.
If the results you are experiencing in your life, the fruits of your search are irrelevant, difficult to comprehend or seem ambiguous, then it may be time to change your keywords. It really is that simple.
So, my friends I implore you to change your key words immediately. Key in on opportunity, prosperity, love, fulfillment, kindness, health and wealth and discover the results that fulfill your search. Be specific in your search for Peace, joy and patience and the discoveries you reveal will amaze you.
